Forget the bland design of DDA flats in the national capital till today. If reports are to be believed, then the new flats to be developed by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) would be stylish and more appealing to the millennials.

The DDA has taken this decision not only to save its reputation but also to check the growing disinterest in its flats among the rich residents of the city, reports Hindi Daily Dainik Jagran.

According to the report, the new DDA flats would be stylish like those developed by builders. Equipped with modern kitchen and trendy interiors including in the bedrooms and the bathrooms, the new flats would likely attract the ever growing population of the rich in the city.

At present, several DDA flats require modifications, even for simple things like fitting an air-conditioner. The new flats would have dedicated spots for such electric equipment so that buyers won’t have to carry out any modification in the design of the flats.

According to the report, the new LIG flats would not be spread on an area less than 40 sq m. The report quotes DDA principle commissioner (housing) JP Agrawal as saying that there are several reasons for constructing new LIG flats on a larger area.

DDA has rolled out its Housing Scheme 2016 to provide affordable houses to different categories of people. Under the scheme the authority will construct over 13,000 flats and most of them will be lower-income-group (LIG), Janta and EHS flats. According to reports, DDA plans to construct nearly 13,148 flats of different categories.

The LIG flats are expected to be priced Rs 14.95 lakh and Rs 28.54 lakh.
