Khattar demands fast-tracking of projects for improved connectivity

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has demanded fast-tracking of the projects conceived to improve connectivity between Delhi and the National Capital Region towns of the State and also raised the issue of release of legitimate share of the State in the Yamuna water at Okhla.

Speaking at the 36th meeting of the National Capital Region Planning Board (NCRPB) in New Delhi on Wednesday, the Chief Minister said that the issue of improved connectivity between Delhi and the NCR towns of Haryana was discussed at various meetings convened by the Union Ministry of Urban Development but the progress achieved in execution of the approved linkages was sluggish.

He said that the important links which needed to be fast-tracked included declaration of the Northern Peripheral Road/Dwarka-Expressway as National Highway for which the State government had already conveyed its consent. The other is acquisition and construction of a link road connecting Nelson Mandela ‘T’ point near Vasant Kunj flyover with the Mehrauli-Gurgaon Road, which is already incorporated in Zone ‘J’ of Master Plan, Delhi and widening of link road between Mehrauli road near Andheria Mor in Delhi to Gurgaon-Faridabad road near Gwal Pahari through Gadaipur and Mandi villages of Delhi.

Besides, the other projects that need to be expedited are construction of 75 m-wide road link in the Delhi area between sector-109 and 114 connecting Gurgaon area with Nazafgarh road and 13.235-km proposed Kalindi bypass road from Kalindi (Delhi) to Faridabad along the Agra canal. He said the work on Kundli-Manesar section of the 135-km-long Kundli-Manesar-Palwal Expressway was under way and likely to be completed by August, 2018.
