Proper transportation and accessibility in a city helps it grow in all avenues. The upcoming Jewar Airport in Greater Noida will boost the city’s growth in the long run. This project is also expected to help the corporate sector prosper in the city.
Even though Gurgaon and Greater Noida are at an equal distance from Delhi, the travelling time to both cities differ by a huge margin. You can easily travel to Gurgaon from New Delhi in approximately 35 minutes. On the other hand, travelling to Noida from the capital takes almost one and a half hours. This is also one of the major factors that contribute to multinational and domestic companies choosing Gurgaon to open their offices.
Although property prices in Greater Noida are comparatively lower than that of Gurgaon, you will seldom find any major companies with their offices in the city. The demand for office areas in Gurgaon is so high that it has almost reached a point of saturation. People find it convenient to stay in Gurgaon, due to the multiple numbers of companies in the city and easy accessibility to New Delhi.
Ray of Hope for Greater Noida
The Civil Aviation Ministry has recently approved a new airport in Jewar. This place is situated along the popular Yamuna Expressway connecting Agra and Greater Noida. This new airport can prove to be a boon for Greater Noida. It will help people reach the city faster from New Delhi as before. This will also help revive the almost dead infrastructure development and home sales in Greater Noida. In other words, this airport can shift the concentration of multinational and domestic companies, as well as, property seekers from Gurgaon to Noida.
Noida’s cheap property prices have prompted various developers to build residential properties in Noida. However, it failed to attract the attention of large and small-scale companies. This new airport project in Jewar is expected to attract these companies, boost job opportunities in Greater Noida, and improve the state’s economy.
Project Issues in the Past
The proposal for this airport was initiated in the year 2007 by the Mayawati government. There were multiple reasons behind the drop of the proposal by the Central Government. One of the primary reasons is a rule about the existence of multiple airports in an area. This rule states that no second airport can be constructed in a radius of 150 km from an existing airport. Jewar Airport was within a radius of 72 km from the existing Indira Gandhi International Airport of Delhi.
Development of Jewar Airport Plan
The debate on the topic about the need of an airport at Jewar went on for quite some time. However, the plan was dropped after the previous government clearly refused the project. If you are from Noida, then you should thank Mahesh Sharma, the recently appointed Minister of State for Civil Aviation, as he restarted this debate. He very clearly stated the importance of such a project and also how an airport can help the various cities around, such as Greater Noida. He was of the opinion that when more than one airport can function at the same time in London, why can’t such a similar thing happen around Delhi.
With most of the major issues tackled successfully, this airport will surely help the real estate business of Noida and also boost up job prospects in the city. The residents of Noida will not have to leave their homes to find a good job.
