Jaunti village to be developed as model village

Jaunti village in North West Delhi has been adopted for development as a model village, under the “SaansadAdarsh gram Yojana”.

The village would be developed under the leadership of Dr. Udit Raj, Member of Parliament, North West Delhi.

The villagers, along with the members of Dr. UditRaj’s team have met multiple times over the past few weeks, to chalk out the strategy roadmap for the holistic development of the village.

DrRaj’s core team have come up with a phase-wise strategy for the development of village Jaunti.

In a unique affair, to unveil the entire roadmap for the future, the villagers held a one day ‘JauntiUtsav’ in the village, on April 11, 2015 (Saturday), where invites were sent to friends and relatives from the surrounding villages. Various NGO’s like Good Shepherd and Arise India came for the event and expressed desire to support the noble cause.

As a unique innovation, Jaunti is the first village, which is coming up with a master plan for the entire village.

Jaunti also intends to be the first village with 100 percent electronic health records mapped. During the month of April, 4-5 volunteer from the village would undergo training under the guidance of specialists, and then accomplish a door-to-door campaign to capture the data. During the same exercise, they would also identify people who seek Bank accounts, Aadhar cards, Voter ID etc. so that all future projects achieve the desired ‘Inclusive’ results.

Once the data bank is ready, it can integrated with an SMS server so that every member of the village is included real time, on all communications. These tools not only are an enabler, but a motivator too. Thirdly, Dr. Udit Raj, requested executives from the private sector to volunteer their contribution of time and effort. The skill training exercise too shall formally begin this month.

In another first, Jaunti aims to be the first village with a web portal of it’s own. www.merajaunti.com was also formally launched during the Utsav on April 11.

The Jaunti team has also evolved a mascot and aptly named him ‘Jonti, from Jaunti’ to bind the entire village into the mission. The mascot is youthful and contemporary, to appeal to the young demography of the village.

Dr. Udit Raj stated, “My endeavour is not to just develop the physical properties of the village, but to evolve a sustainable model which I intend to replicate in other villages too.”

“The development will not only be limited to building roads and other high-end infrastructure, but also creating a sustainable environment, which ensures good access to heath care, access to education and training of the villagers to perform high skilled and high paying jobs, thus improving the growth and happiness index of the village. Our efforts start with inculcating pride in Jaunti, being proud of what we would have achieved, over time,” he added.

Sanjay Goel, the District commissioner, NW-Delhi and Anoop Thakur, SDM have also visited the village on a few occasions to participate in the Scope/Need analysis’ exercise. They have assured the villagers about ‘convergence of existing government schemes’ to maximize the output of this effort.
